Today Rydges Sydney Airport hosted another Plane Spotters day in their conference rooms up at the roof. With superb views of the airfield this is the place to spot, with food and drink on supply.
Sadly the conference room has been far more popular than days of old so the regular weekend open days have now trickled into scheduled events every few months with the occasional weekend in between.
The day was split into 2 sessions of three hours each, with one mostly aimed at the kids in the afternoon and one for the twilighters in the evening.
As I said, the views from the balcony are great and certainly won’t disappoint. Being so close to the freight and international terminals where most of the larger aircraft hang out also helps.

Also at the event was Louie Loizou and his lovely wife. Louie is an aviation enthusiast who has been around for a long time and has an amazing collection of photographs dating back decades. I highly recommend checking out his Instagram account here. Images can be purchased and Louie has a lot of them already created into beautiful portraits ready to hang on the wall.
