Campbelltown Japanese Garden

Not the most extravagant Japanese garden around Sydney but still a nice place to unwind while taking in the koi pond and Japanese inspired trees and plants.  The garden were a gift from Koshigaya, Campbelltown’s Sister City in Japan.

Located on the grounds of the Campbelltown Arts Centre, entry is free although the cafe was busy and seemed to require a booking.

I started off with a bite to eat at the cafe.  I was lucky to be by myself and they let me eat at a small table without having a booking.  The food was quite good and not too overpriced.

After eating it’s a short stroll around the small garden surrounding the handcrafted tea house and koi pond.  There’s also a small zen garden behind the tea house.  Keeping with the theme there”s small wooden bridges crossing the koi pond allowing guests to look straight into the water.  Feeding the fish is not permitted.

The design inside the tea house was interesting and seems under utilised, for example, serving tea would be good.

I took a panorama shot from the tea house looking across the koi pond back towards the cafe.  It seems to have turned out ok.
