This past weekend I flew from Sydney to Port Macquarie for my sisters birthday.
Both legs were traveled on an ATR72-600 which is one of my favourite planes.
Port Macquarie Airport is a small regional airport on the mid north coast of NSW. It services daily Qantas and Virgin Australia flights and sees a number of smaller aircraft frequently flying around. There’s a flight school or two here so there’s always planes to see.

The ATR72-600 is a medium sized turbo prop which seats 68 passengers.
The return leg I had some time to wait at the airport as the flights were delayed due to storms in the area and bad weather in Sydney.
I was able to catch a video of the Qantas flight QF2174 landing.

This is about as busy at the airport gets with commercial flights with a photo showing the ATR72 and the Dash 8 on the apron together.
That’s all I managed to get due to the rain starting to come down and the intense lightening in the area.
But here’s some clouds on the way back to Sydney…
Due to bad weather in Sydney we were forced to hold over the Hunter Valley for a little while on the return trip. This seems to happen a lot of the time when I fly back to Sydney from Port Macquarie.
